The Howard Hughes Corporation has recently awarded 21 college scholarships to local high school graduates from Bridgeland High School, Conroe High School, Magnolia High School, Oak Ridge High School, Tomball High School, Waller High School, Willis High School, The Woodlands College Park High School, and The Woodlands High School. Howard Hughes is also funding six additional college scholarships through an endowment at Lone Star College System, continuing a decades-long tradition of educational sponsorship and furthering its commitment to helping community students pursue a college education.
Approximately 380 scholarships have been awarded to graduates through an educational funding initiative launched in the 1980s in which The Howard Hughes Corporation continues today. The endowment at Lone Star College System began in 1998.
The 21 scholarships awarded to recent high school graduates includes scholarships that were created in the memories of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the late Gerald D. Irons, Sr., a Hometown Hero in The Woodlands, as well as scholarships in partnership with Howard Hughes and premier tenants to help support tomorrow’s leaders from our community.
“The Howard Hughes Corporation remains dedicated to investing in the future of local graduating high school seniors and continuing an over 35-year tradition of educational support and scholarships,” said Jim Carman, President – Houston Region for Howard Hughes. “We congratulate this year’s recipients on their accomplishments and are proud to support the bright young minds of tomorrow as they embark on goals to further their education and find career success.”
