Delizioso! Whether speaking in Italian or translating in English, yummy, you will have an instant crush on the Crushed Plum Tomato Sauce Recipe. Also known as the Pomodoro Sauce, the tomato condiment is served on Penne Pomodoro at Sorriso Modern Italian Kitchen in The Woodlands. Sorriso shares the fan favorite recipe here:

Ingredients

2 Lbs. (2 cans) San Marzano plum tomatoes

1 Cup extra virgin olive oil

3 Pinches dry oregano

1 Tablespoon minced garlic

White ground pepper

Salt

10 Basil leaves roughly chopped

Sorriso Pomodoro Recipe

Directions

-Hand crush the tomatoes and set aside.

-In a large cooking pot, golden the garlic with ½ cup of the extra virgin olive oil.

-Add the crushed tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients except for the remaining half cup of extra virgin olive oil and the basil.

-Cook at low/moderate fire no longer than 20 minutes leaving the sauce still running and not totally cooked. Remove cooking pot from fire and finish by adding the fresh basil and the remaining extra virgin.
