THE WOODLANDS, TX –  (Thursday, January 23, 2025) – The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee in The Woodlands recently awarded the prestigious Drum Major Award to Howard Hughes at a heartfelt MLK celebration held at The Woodlands Methodist Church. The commemorative celebration brings the community together to honor the legacy of Dr. King, the renowned civil rights icon and social justice leader. As a longtime supporter, Howard Hughes has been sponsoring the MLK celebration since its inception in The Woodlands. The Drum Major Award is bestowed upon extraordinary individuals, organizations, and businesses that excel in civic service.

Howard Hughes exemplifies a strong commitment to local nonprofit organizations by donating and volunteering to over 155 charitable causes annually in The Woodlands and Houston region through its corporate social responsibility initiative, HHCares. This includes supporting college scholarships presented by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee in Montgomery County.
