Health care is one of the fastest growing industries in The Woodlands, one of the most noticeable expanding sectors too. New topnotch medical facilities and satellite clinics seem to keep appearing on the scene. Howard Hughes continues to build upon this growth with local medical providers, building on the original vision of community founder George Mitchell, who wanted to create a community where its residents didn’t need to leave to get world class medical care.
Those who live in The Woodlands may not realize just how extensive The Woodlands’ medical footprint is in 2024, with the 50 year anniversary of this groundbreaking master planned community approaching (the big celebration is set for October). Now, 30.9 percent of the non-retail major employers in The Woodlands area are in medical.

Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center
Since it first opened under a different name in 1985, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center has provided a comprehensive range of services to The Woodlands, with more than 90 fields of medical specialties available there today. These services include emergency care, primary health care, women’s health, cancer care and specialized clinics.
Memorial Hermann’s world class surgical facilities save lives in emergency situations, and the hospital has advanced diagnostic imaging technology available so you can be sure exactly what is wrong and get the right treatment plan geared around you. It is also a Level II Trauma Center.
Memorial Hermann The Woodlands’ credentials include Magnet status, an international distinction for nursing excellence and quality care awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. It was the first hospital in The Woodlands to achieve this status.
The welcoming campus is designed to put patients and their family’s needs first. It has a capacity of 497 beds, all in private rooms with room service and sleeper sofas for family members, and a Starbucks for refreshments. In the summer of 2022, the new South Tower — part of a $250 million expansion project — was developed to allow the hospital to meet the growth in The Woodlands and surrounding areas.

Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital
Houston Methodist is one of leading health care providers in the region with eight community hospitals in Greater Houston. Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital is one of the newest and most cutting edge hospitals, having opened in 2017.
The flagship Houston Methodist hospital in the Texas Medical Center is a leading academic research hospital. The Woodlands branch offers many of the same exceptional services. This hospital in The Woodlands is the winner of several industry awards, including being deemed a ‘Breast Center of Excellence’ from the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Methodist is known for its patient-centric approach to medicine, with a foundation of faith-based principles rooted in the teachings of the United Methodist Church. Houston Methodist The Woodlands’ areas of expertise include breast care, cancer care, heart and vascular services, neurology, orthopedics, and sports medicine.

St. Luke’s Health – The Woodlands Hospital
St. Luke’s Health –The Woodlands Hospital is an extension of the St. Luke’s Health System. Built in 2003, it provides a calm and healing environment for its patients.
This 62-acre campus offers a full range of health care, including an exemplary Family Birth Center, where patients can receive care from top experts in Women’s Health. It is all about creating a comfortable and safe atmosphere for new mothers, with breastfeeding support and a newborn nursery.
Winner of The Texas Department of State Health Services’ Five Star Hospital Award, St. Luke’s Health – The Woodlands Hospital also boasts a heart and vascular institute, an emergency room and a neuroscience institute, as well as excellent facilities for sports medicine, pediatrics and many other fields of expertise.

Among its accolades is winning a TMF Hospital Quality Improvement Gold Award from the TMF Health Quality Institute.
A collaboration between St. Luke’s Health and a team of specialists, St. Luke’s Health – Lakeside Hospital is the only hospital in Montgomery County to offer sports medicine as a major specialty. It is affiliated with the Texas Heart Institute and Baylor College of Medicine, and all its physician partners are board certified in their medical specialty.
