Landscaping Will Transform 2.3 Acres into Flexible Open Green Space for Community Enjoyment

The Howard Hughes Corporation is cultivating a new outdoor community gathering space in The Woodlands, with landscaping thoughtfully designed to encourage family and friends to enjoy the walkability and cultural attractions in Waterway Square. Located north of The Westin at The Woodlands and adjacent to the south side of Waterway Square garage, the 2.3-acre new green space exemplifies Howard Hughes’ commitment to providing premier outdoor amenities within the community.

Crepe myrtles and zoysia grass—a lush and durable grass that creates one of the most dense and soft green carpets—are among the landscaping elements that have been purposefully selected for community enjoyment. Movable furniture provides for flexible gatherings to suit each individual’s desire to relax and unwind.

The new gathering space sets the stage for a future mural by an internationally recognized artist that will be featured on the adjacent Waterway Square garage. The new mural will add to The Woodlands’ growing collection that comprises over 80 pieces of public artwork and is one of the largest collections of outdoor public art for a community its size in the country.

“This new flexible green space creates another outdoor amenity for residents, employees and visitors to enjoy at Waterway Square, and serves as an additional vantage point from which to enjoy outdoor concerts and social gatherings,” said Jim Carman, President of the Houston Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation.
