He Asked, and She Said “Yes!” — Engaged to be Married

“It just felt like I should propose here since we have come here so often as a couple and just love the area,” explains Ryan.

Love was in the air near Waterway Square as The Woodlands resident Mackenzie Stevens said “yes!” to Ryan Ross’ surprise proposal of marriage on The Woodlands Waterway.

Ryan chose The Waterway for its undeniable natural beauty and the memories it holds for Mackenzie and him. The Goose’s Acre, the popular Irish pub which sits on the corner of Waterway Avenue and Waterway Square Place, is their favorite local restaurant. After dinner at the laid-back pub, the two lovebirds would then walk The Woodlands Waterway to enjoy the twinkly tree lights’ reflections in the water.

“It just felt like I should propose here since we have come here so often as a couple and just love the area,” explains Ryan. “I even arranged for Mackenzie’s family to be secretly watching us get engaged from The Goose’s Acre outdoor patio balcony, and, so we could all celebrate together afterwards. After a surprise ceremonial toast from The Goose’s Acre staff, we enjoyed a delicious dinner overlooking The Waterway,” explains Ryan.

Mackenzie and Ryan both attend the University of Oklahoma where they are slated to graduate in 2019. They hope to land their first jobs in either Houston, The Woodlands or Dallas where they both have family and there are opportunities in their chosen fields —Mackenzie hoping to land a kindergarten or first grade teaching gig and Ryan hoping to nab a position in the world of Financial Information Systems.

Mackenzie and Ryan’s wedding is being planned for late fall of 2020 “…at a TBD whimsical, fairytale-like venue,” beams the bride (who can’t help but gaze at her new ring one more time!).

The Woodlander congratulates Mackenzie and Ryan on their engagement and sends best wishes to the special bride and groom as their wedding planning begins.
