The Woodlands, TX (January 18, 2019)– The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) has made a significant impactfor the 2018 Montgomery County Light the Night Walk benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), with the fundraising having surpassed that of any previous year. Of the total $1,236,500 raised,The Howard Hughes Corporation contributed $258,000, with efforts led by its regional senior executives.
As co-chairs and fundraising Executive Challengers, Jim Carman, Vice President of Master Planned Communities and Commercial Development, raised $107,000 and Heath Melton, Vice President of Master Planned Communities and Residential, raised $114,000 for the walk. Carman and Melton ranked in the top ten of the 1,875 Executive Challengers nationwide, landing number six and number four respectively.
“Thanks to the tremendous fundraising efforts by The Howard Hughes Corporation, we are proud to report that this Light the Night Montgomery County raised a total of $1,236,500 – the highest ever for Montgomery County,” said Breanna Challicombe, Senior Campaign Manager for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.“This placed Montgomery County number nine in the nation, surpassing many large cities, including Houston. We are extremely appreciative of their investment in our mission to help light the path towards curing cancer.”
The mission of LLS is to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease andmyeloma while helping to improve the quality of life of patients and families. Carman served on the 2018 Montgomery County Executive Leadership Committee for LLS, and both Carman and Melton agreed to take on the Executive Challenge, which set the goal of raising $5,000 or more in funds for the Light the Night Walk. Carman and Melton were also listed among the Top 10 National Leaders with all Executive Challengers for LLS. The two executives united local offices from The Woodlands® and Bridgeland® to raise funds and participate in the cause. The contributions raised by The Howard Hughes Corporation ranked the company as the #1 Corporate Team in Montgomery County, and currently #7 in the entire nation out of 10,000 top teams.
