Inspiring Fountain Installations — Alluring Water Play
From the Bellagio Fountain in Las Vegas, Nevada to the Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy to the Magic Fountain of Montjuic in Barcelona, Spain to the Swarovski Fountain of Innsbruck, Austria, fountains have captivated our hearts and minds for thousands of years.
Distilled to its most basic essence, a fountain is a piece of architecture which pours water into a basin or channels it into a jet (or set of jets) which sprays it into the air. Originally, fountains were purely functional, connected to springs or aqueducts and used to provide drinking and bathing water to the residents of cities, towns and villages.
Today, fountains are also used for architectural dramatic effect, a motion-based sculpture that can offer glistening sounds, flashes of light, shimmering reflections and sometimes even music and choreographed synchronicity of the water flow. To celebrate, local photographers Glenn Siegert, Joan Tilton and Jennifer Vahlbruch shared some of their favorite photographs of the alluring fountains of The Woodlands that extend beauty, serenity and/or fun to all who gaze upon them.
